What is an ihraam belt?

It is a belt worn over the lower ihram cloth to keep it secure. Its job is simply to stop the garment slipping while walking in crowds.

What size should I choose?

It is stocked in M, L and XL and is adjustable, so it fits a range of waist sizes within each size. If you are between sizes, the adjustment usually covers it.

What colour is it?

White, in keeping with the ihram itself. That is standard rather than a style choice.

Does this belt have a pouch?

Some ihraam belts carry a pouch for money and documents and some do not. What this belt includes is described on this page, so check before ordering if a pouch is what you need.

Is a belt allowed in ihram?

Belts are widely worn by pilgrims and the question is a settled one for most, but the detail of what may be worn in ihram is a matter for a scholar rather than for us. If you have a specific concern, ask your aalim or mufti.

Do I need a belt if I have a velcro ihram?

Not for holding the garment, since the velcro does that. Some people still wear one for the pockets, which is the main reason to have both.

How do I wear it?

It goes over the lower cloth at the waist and is adjusted until the garment sits securely without being tight. Practising at home before travelling is worth doing.

How do I care for it?

Wipe it clean rather than machine washing, and let it dry fully before packing it away. Keeping it out of direct sun helps the white stay white.

Is it suitable for kids?

The sizes stocked here are adult. What is currently available in smaller sizes shows on our Ihram and clothing page.

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

Standard shipping is R160 and orders are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Delivery is free on orders over R1000.

Can I return this item?

Yes. As a non consumable item, it can be returned within 7 days in unused, unopened condition and in its original packaging. Please note that sale items are non refundable.
