Tasbeeh and zikr counters

A tasbeeh keeps count during dhikr so the mind stays on the words rather than the number. The traditional form is a string of 99 or 33 beads, and the modern alternatives do the same job differently: a finger counter clicks through a small mechanical dial, and a digital zikr ring counts on a tap and holds the total between sessions.

Cii Stores stocks all three formats side by side, from inexpensive everyday bead strings to wooden and gemstone sets suited to gifting, alongside counters and smart rings. Bulk quantities of the simpler counters are commonly bought for madrassahs and gift packs, and the same range covers both that need and a single premium set.

Questions and answers

What is a tasbeeh?
A tasbeeh is a string of beads used to count dhikr, the remembrance of Allah. It is also spelled tasbih or misbaha, and the counting itself is what the word describes rather than any one design.
How many beads are on a tasbeeh?
The two common counts are 99 beads and 33 beads, with the 33 bead version cycled three times to reach 99. Both are stocked, and the bead count is listed on each product page.
What is a zikr counter ring?
A zikr counter ring is worn on the finger and advances a count each time it is tapped or turned, keeping a running total on a small display. It suits counting discreetly in public or while travelling, where beads are less practical.
Do the digital counters need charging?
Digital and smart counters run on a battery and the charging method is listed on the product page, typically USB for rechargeable models. Simple mechanical finger counters need no power at all.
What are tasbeeh beads made from?
Materials range from plastic and wood to glass and semi precious stone, and the material is given on each product page. Wooden and stone sets are heavier in the hand and are usually the ones chosen for gifting.
Can I buy tasbeeh in bulk?
Yes, and the simpler counters and bead strings are regularly bought in quantity for madrassahs, gift packs and events. Availability depends on current stock, so it is worth asking before planning around a large number.
Which tasbeeh is best for a beginner?
A simple 33 or 99 bead string is the easiest starting point, since nothing can run flat or break, and it costs very little. Many people move to a counter or ring later for use outside the home.
Is a tasbeeh a good gift?
It is a common choice for a nikah, Eid or Hajj send off, and a wooden or gemstone set presents well without being expensive. Pairing one with a musallah is the usual combination for a fuller gift.
Can I see the tasbeeh range in store?
Yes. Cii Stores is a physical shop in Ormonde, Johannesburg, and handling a tasbeeh matters more than most items, since bead size and weight are personal. Come and compare, or order online for delivery across South Africa.
How much does a tasbeeh cost?
Tasbeeh at Cii Stores start from around R15 for a simple bead string and run to roughly R499 for premium sets and smart counter rings. Mechanical finger counters sit at the lower end.
How much is delivery and how long does it take?
Standard shipping is R160 and orders are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Delivery is free on orders over R1500.
Can I return a tasbeeh?
Yes. Non consumable items can be returned within 7 days in unused, unopened condition and in their original packaging. Please note that sale items are non refundable.
