Description
A djellaba is the hooded, loose cut robe worn across North Africa, and this is the winter weight version of it. It falls wide and long with the traditional pointed hood, deep side slits and generous sleeves, so it goes on over whatever you are already wearing.
The fabric is heavier than a summer thobe, which is the whole point of it, and it closes with a concealed zip set behind embroidery across the chest. Three colourways are stocked, black, charcoal grey and sky blue, in lengths 54 to 62.

Questions and answers
What is a djellaba?
It is a long, loose robe worn across North Africa, and its defining feature is the pointed hood. The cut is deliberately wide so it drapes rather than fits.
How is a djellaba different from a thobe?
A thobe is cut closer and has no hood. A djellaba is looser, longer in the sleeve and always hooded, which makes it the warmer and more casual of the two.
Is it warm enough for winter?
Yes, it is made in a heavier winter weight fabric rather than the light cloth used for summer thobes. The hood and the full length add to that.
Can I wear it over other clothes?
Yes, that is how most people wear it. The loose cut leaves room to layer over a kurta, a shirt or ordinary clothes without pulling anywhere.
How does it fasten?
A concealed zip runs up the front, set behind the embroidery across the chest, so the closure stays out of sight.
Does it have pockets or slits?
It has deep side slits, which let you move freely and reach through to whatever you are wearing underneath.
What sizes does it come in?
Lengths run from 54 to 62. The number is the length in inches measured from the shoulder to the hem, so a 58 is roughly 58 inches long.
How does the sizing fit?
The cut is oversized by design, so take your usual length rather than sizing up. If you plan to layer heavily underneath, one size up gives more room.
What colours can I get?
Three colourways: black, charcoal grey and sky blue. All three are stocked in the full length range.
Who is it for?
It is a men's garment. It suits cold mornings, evenings at home and travel, and it is the easiest thing to pull on over what you already have on.
How do I care for it?
Machine wash cold and do not bleach. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat, and use a cool iron, keeping it off the embroidery.
Can I see it in store?
Yes. It hangs at Cii Stores in Ormonde, Johannesburg, and a winter weight garment is worth feeling in person before you choose a size.
How much is delivery and how long does it take?
Standard shipping is R160 and orders are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Delivery is free on orders over R1000.

Yes. As a non consumable item, it can be returned within 7 days in unused, unopened condition and in its original packaging. Please note that sale items are non refundable.
