What is bakhoor and how does it work?

Bakhoor is traditional Arabian incense made from natural scented wood, oils and resins. It works by gently heating on a piece of glowing charcoal, which releases a warm, long-lasting fragrance into the room. It is commonly used to scent homes, clothing and prayer spaces.

How do I use the bakhoor burner?

Place a piece of Sakinah Premium charcoal in the inner metal cup and light it until it begins to glow, then let it settle for 2 to 3 minutes. Add a few small pieces of Amaani Bakhoor on top and let the scent diffuse. You can add more after 10 to 15 minutes. Always use in a well-ventilated space.

What designs and colours are available?

The kit comes in five burner designs (Noor, Layali, Badiah, Hijaz and Wasl), each available in black or white. Choose your preferred design and colour from the options on this page.

Yes, it is a complete starter set. The burner, charcoal, tongs and six bakhoor samples are all included, so nothing extra is needed to get started. The samples also let you try six different Amaani scents before committing to a full size.

Cii stocks the full size Amaani bakhoor range, including the Gold Collection scents Nafha, Jawdah, Haneen, Muraqab and Malaki in sizes from 5g to 50g. Once a sample wins you over, you can buy that scent in full size in store or online.

How do I clean and look after the burner?

Let the burner cool completely, then lift out the removable inner metal cup and empty the ash. Wipe the cup and burner with a dry or slightly damp cloth once cool. Store the kit in its gift box when not in use.

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

Standard shipping is R160 and orders are delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Delivery is free on orders over R1000.

Can I return this item?

Yes, provided it is unused, unopened and in its original sealed packaging, within 7 days. Opened personal care products cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. Sale items are non refundable.
