What age is a kids ihraam for?

It is made for children accompanying their family on Hajj or Umrah, sized well below an adult set. Sizing detail is on this page, since children vary widely at the same age.

Why velcro for a child?

A velcro fastening holds the lower cloth without a child needing to manage a wrap or a belt. That removes the most common difficulty of putting a young pilgrim in ihram.

Do boys need to wear ihram?

Practice varies with the age of the child and what your group or scholar advises. Many families dress boys in ihram from a young age simply so they feel part of it.

Is it comfortable for a long day?

It is made to be practical for a child walking and standing for hours, which is what the secure fastening is for. Comfort matters more for children than for adults on those days.

Should I wash it before travelling?

Washing a new set before you go softens it and is common practice. Wash it plain, without scented detergent, since fragrance is restricted in ihram.

What if my child is between sizes?

Sizing up is the safer choice, since the velcro takes up slack and children grow through a trip. The wrap is forgiving in a way a stitched garment is not.

Can they practise wearing it at home?

Yes, and it is worth doing so the day itself is not the first time. Children settle far better with something they have already worn.

Do I need a belt as well?

Not for holding it, since the velcro does that. Adults sometimes add a belt for pockets, but children rarely need one.

What else should a child take?
